On 27 and 28 February, we attended the first phase of iSpring course which was organised by our language department. Today we had another phase which was the advanced level which we were taught how to use iSpring QuizMaker and iSpring Kinetics. It was easy to learn how to use QuizMaker to make quiz for the students to do online. We can do many types of questions such as True/False, Multiple choice, Multiple response, Type in, Matching, Sequence, Fill in and Multiple choice text. Eveything seems so easy but the only thing we need to have is the software, it is expensive but our language department had bought it for the usage of language lecturers. To use this software, we have to go to the language lab as it was installed in all the desktops there. I love to use this software but the problem is I have to go to the language lab and it is inconvenient. How nice it is if I can install the software in my own laptop so that I can make the quiz at home.
Teaching is an art. Often the best artist does not make the best teacher. It depends on the individual to make the best English teacher of himself/herself.

First Day at IPG
After 17 years of teaching at school, finally, I am promoted to be a lecturer at IPGTHO. My first week here is full with Kursus Induksi Dalaman and we learnt many terms we must know as a lecturer. For example, PPISMP, PISMP, KDC, WAJ and so on. This course is timely as it equipped us with the knowledge we have not been exposed to before this.
Zeal in English
As an English teacher, I was not born in an English-spoken family. Both my parents are Chinese, they speak Mandarin and Hokkien. I was sent to a Chinese primary school at SJK(C) Ai Chun 2 in Batu Pahat, Johor. I learnt Mandarin most of the time and English was learnt little at that time.
Learning English was not easy for me but I know English is important. When I continued my secondary school at SMK Convent, I envied my Chinese friends who had already started to speak in English to those who came from SK Convent who spoke only English. All our teachers spoke English, even teacher who taught History also spoke English. I felt inferior when I was shy to speak English. So I tried to expose myself to English by listening to English songs and writing letters to friends from overseas. I am a Christians, I also have the chance to meet friends from Holland, America and Belgium who came to serve at our local congregation.
When I became a teacher at SJKC Kong Nan, Pt Raja, Johor, I taught English and Mandarin. After that, I furthered my studies at UPM and took TESL degree course. Then, I was transferred to SMK Semerah and taught only English for seven years. My zeal in learning English did not diminish, I continued my studies to master in TESL again and applied for a lecturer at IPG. Finally, I become a lecturer at IPG Kampus Tun Hussein Onn since January 2013. I enjoy my teaching career as an English lecturer and I will continue to brush up my English now and then.
